Tim Sylvia vs. Paul Buentello featured on “War on the Mainland” PPV slot

Below you will find a clip featuring  the “War on the Mainland” PPV promo spot. Two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia takes on power punching Paul Buentello in the main event, live from Bren Events Center in Irvine, California.

This promo is produced much better then the last time I saw Tim Sylvia in a PPV promo, which was one of the most God awful things I have ever seen. The below clip shows the video, as well the result of the actual fight between Sylvia and Mercer.

Ray Mercer drops Tim Sylvia in 9 seconds

Awhile ago I heard that Tim Sylvia was looking to make his boxing debut against 48 year old “Merciless” Ray Mercer.

The commercial for the fight was down right awful, and provided MMA message board users a lot of laughs over the past few months.

The bout was originally scheduled to be a boxing match, but the athletic commissions stepped in, halted the match, and somewhere along the line it turned into an MMA fight. That fight took place over the weekend.

“This is my world,” Sylvia said. “He was going to pull out all the stops in boxing, all the little dirty tricks he has. He’s been doing this for 25 years. He’s going to come in and try to hurt me. Now I’m going to teach him a lesson.”

Well, things didn’t really work out that way. Mercer landed a crushing blow to Sylvia that blanked him 9 seconds into the match. What really impressed me was that Mercer went for the take down as Sylvia was falling and started pounding his face as he hit the canvas. Looks like ray was training a little more MMA technique then he led on to.

Check out the video here. I can’t find an official video, but you’ll get the point .

Tim Sylvia has now lost 4 of his last 5 fights.

Fedor Emelianenko is getting his own toy

One of World’s Most Popular MMA Athletes Latest Star To Sign On To Create Collectible

MARKHAM, Ontario, Canada, January 22, 2009 — Known across the world and considered by many to be the best fighter in the sport of mixed martial arts today, Russian star Fedor Emelianenko of M-1 Global has partnered with Round 5, the leader in collectible MMA figurines, to create a piece to be made available later this year. The heavyweight joins an All-Star lineup of 12 MMA standouts who currently work with Round 5 to produce their respective figures.

The announcement comes on the heels of last week’s notice that stars Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski – Fedor’s opponent in this Saturday’s Affliction “Day of Reckoning” event – will be one of four stars to be featured in Round 5’s Series 3 release this spring, along with “Big John” McCarthy, Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. Series 3 is scheduled to be available at retail outlets throughout North America and online at www.Round5MMA.com beginning in April.

Fedor and the Round 5 team will begin work on creating his figurine in the coming weeks. The Fedor figures will be part of a future Series issue to be determined.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me,” said Emelianenko. “I am looking forward to going through the process of making this the best figurine that we can. I think fans will appreciate that I will have a big role in how it looks and will enjoy the final product.”
