Jose Canseco to make pro martial arts debut

April

Yes, you read that correctly. Sherdog.com is reporting that Jose Canseco is set to make his pro debut.

FEG, the Japanese organization that promotes the DREAMĀ  and K1 events, has announced its second tournament series of 2009: an eight-man open-weight competition that includes former Major League Baseball star ,and admitted steroid abuser, Jose Canseco; the tournament has been christened the Super Hulk Tournament.

Four quarter-final bouts are already set for Dream 9 on May 26 at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. The tournament will have a “David Vs. Goliath” theme, pitting fighters of all sizes against one another.Jose Canseco will square off against the 7’2” Korean sensation, Hong Man Choi.

The rules of the tournament are not set yet so I do not know if it will be contested under K1 or MMA rules. We will have to wait and see.

I hate to admit it, but I am very interested to see what Canseco can do. I have read from multiple sources that he holds black belts in a few different forms of martial arts.
