One of the most hyped cards in recent history, UFC 94 came and went, and I am pretty late on my post fight analysis.

My favorite fighters keep losing. It sucks. In fact, every fighter that I wanted to win on Saturday ended up defeated.

Most of the fights on the card wqent to decision. I didn’t really mind because most of the fights carried a fast pace.

Machida/Silva
I like Thiago Silva a lot. I like his aggressive style and demeanor. He is young, talented, and , up until Saturday, undefeated. Unfortunately Silva was knocked out in the final moments of round one and the fight was called in Machida’s favor.

The only other time I have seen this happen is when Jeremy Horn choked out Chuck Liddell with an arm triangle back at UFC 19. Chuck didn’t tap out, but he was in la la land at the end of the round; consequently, the referee called the fight.

So now we will probably see Machida vs Evans for the 205 pound title. That should be an interesting fight. Rashad likes to feel his opponents out in the first round and Machida has a style that is so “elusive”. It could be a great fight, but we may not see a lot of action until the 3rd or fourth round.

Like they used to say in EliteXC, “Someone’s ‘oh’ has to go”. I have a feeling Machida might be walking out with light heavyweight gold. Greg Jackson is going to have a hell of a time planning for Machida.
