St. Pierre and Serra have had some harsh words for one another leading up to this bout. After GSP lost his belt to Serra, he publicly stated that he was not physically or mentally prepared for the fight. These comments annoyed Matt Serra, who fired back with some comments of his own:

“You know it’s funny. I’m hearing it wasn’t the real GSP that night and now he’s back,” Serra told The Canadian Press in an interview at the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in midtown Manhattan where St. Pierre also used to train until the two faced off. “I don’t know, when I fought him, it looked like him. I mean it wasn’t a stunt double. Who was that guy?”

“Drink your red wine, go to your hockey game and shut up,” added Serra, referring to St. Pierre as Frenchy.

Interim UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has responded to those comments.

“(The UFC was) talking to me about the fact that he called me a ‘Frenchy’ and he said the ‘F-word’ Frenchy, and said ‘go back to your red wine and hockey games,’” explained St. Pierre. “And when I think about that, I said a champion should not talk like that because now it’s getting personal when you say those things. I think a champion should show by example and not talk like that and he crossed the line by saying that.”

    Dear Lord,

I know you and I have had our differences and disagreements. I know that I don’t believe in you and all, and I sin on a regular basis. But if you grant me this prayer I promise to be a good boy. Please let Georges annihilate Serra. I’ll be an extra good boy if it is a worse beating than Matt Hughes too, and maybe a victory via submission after said beating.

PS: I’m sorry I made baby Jesus cry.
    Amen.

  2. Big

Give Serra some respect. The reason hes being a dick is because hes earned the belt and everyone is saying its a fluke. He is a great fighter, hes got no real advantages yet he wins fights. People call him mighty midget, and stuff like that and we freek when he calls gsp names?

I love gsp and all but jeez give serra a little credit.

    Big,

I don’t recall GSP calling Serra a mighty midget so why the hell is Serra justified in taking a low-blow shot at GSP?? If GSP was slinging shit I’d see your point, but I don’t see it. He’s a great human being. Pretty weak argument dude.

He won the fight, sure. Great punch right on the money. Apparently hit his carotid artery. However, if he doesn’t catch him with a punch like that he has virtually zero chance of pulling off another victory over GSP. Any respect I had for Serra, and he was one of my most respected fighters, went out the window when he engaged in ethnic slurs. He deserves a serious beat-down.

GSP has certainly slung shit. he was an idiot by going on a radio show and saying how he wasn’t himself and he had personal issues that caused him to lose the fight.

I’d actually be closer to being in GSP’s corner for this upcoming fight if he took the loss like a man and gave matt the credit he deserves. but he hasn’t done that (i think to Big’s points above).

It’s definitely going to be a great fight. No doubt about that.

And I think there should be some amount of shit talking leading up to such a big event.

    Rachel
