“The Ultimate Fighter 7″ episode 2 recap

April
8

I Just got done watching episode 2 of TUF 7. This episode features 8 bouts between the light heavyweight fighters.

This time, the fights start 3 minutes into the show, as oppose to the 11 minute mark for episode 1. This episode also features one of the most burtal knockouts in TUF history, and maybe MMA history. This knockout will serve as highlight reel for every season of “The Ultimate Fighter” from here on in.

Fight Card:

Dan Simmler vs. Matthew Riddle – Hint: Don’t blink
Luke Zachrich vs Patrick Schultz
Tim Credeur vs Erik Charles
Brandon Sene vs. Aaron Meisner
Mike Marrello vs. Gerald Harris
Daniel Cramer vs. Jeremiah Riggs
Nick Rossborough vs, Jesse Taylor
Josh Hall vs Matt Brown – My pick for fight of the night

All but one fight ended by a knockout or submission, and all of the fighters looked pretty impressive.

Towards the end of the episode, Dana White says:

Honestly guys we came up with this concept to get rid of the [expletive] and the posers. There’s none here in this room today. I’m so [expletive] impressed. For the first time ever, out of all of the seasons that we have done, all 16 guys deserve to be here.

The end of the episode features highlights from the upcoming season and it looks like once again we can expect the Ultimate Fighter house to get trashed. After weeks of confinement with no TV, social time, or communication with the outside world, things always get interesting. This usually happens at the half way point of the show.

After 7 seasons of this show, I can’t help but think that Dana White must be keeping a contractor and cleaning crew on the payroll.

Seriously—I’m very curious how his medical examination and recovery went after that. They said “the doctors said he’ll be alright”, but he got jacked. Brutal knockout.
